I posted this on my main blog, Seth W. is My Name a few days ago. Basically I’ve been drawing these robots for about a year and a half. Wait, let me back up. I’ve been drawing since I was a kid. I drew all through school, and always seemed to excel in art classes. I drew robots, mostly, but not like these. I was all into Robotech looking robots at the time. Battletech.
The middle of my life, the 20s, I was more into music. Playing in bands, traveling to see bands and eventually settling down at writing about music on Buzzgrinder, which I started in 2001. For years I did the music blog thing, even starting a metal blog for AOL Music back in 2008 (Noisecreep).
I left NYC back in August of 2010, working remotely for AOL Music still. I documented most of my adventures on The Bike Nerd.
Since I left NYC, I’ve been living out of a bag. I carry what I own, with a few clothing items at my parents. During this whole time I got back to drawing. Before I knew it I had a handful of robots. I even put together a little mini-zine and gave it away to anyone who wanted it.
And here we are, early 2012. I’m back on the road and drawing, and finally getting around to piecing these robots together into a collectible format. I’m going to roll out a few robots at a time, and see what happens. I’ll keep drawing them, and we’ll see what form they take over the coming months.
